Mexico, known for sunshine and enthusiasm, is an ancient civilization on the American continent. What the Mexican Indians create include well-known Mayan Civilization, Toltec Culture and Aztec Culture. Why not take your UnionPay card (card number starting with 62) to experience the impress of ancient civilization in the Country of Cactus.
  • POS acceptance
Currently, you can use UnionPay credit cards at any till in Mexico that has a POS terminal with a UnionPay , Discover, Citibanamex , or EVO Payments signage (as shown in the picture below), which are available at certain tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls, among others. For merchants without such signage, you can present your UnionPay card and ask the cashier if it is accepted. At present, Mexican merchants take UnionPay payments without PINs.

Below is a partial list of merchants that accept UnionPay cards (currently, only UnionPay single-badged credit cards are supported):

Service fees are charged by local banks for cash withdrawals. The rate varies from bank to bank. Additionally, each bank may set different caps for the amount withdrawn, typically between MXN 7,000 and MXN 20,000 per transaction.
  • Charges
ATM commission fee consists of two separate fees:
    (1) Service fee charged by the issuer: please consult your issuer for details.
    (2) Service fee charged by the ATM acquirer in Mexico: some ATMs will charge commission fee, which is charged by the local banks in Mexico and which has nothing to do with UnionPay or the issuer.
