POS acceptance
Almost all merchants accept UnionPay cards. Merchants include major airports hotels, tourist attractions, local craft stores, etc. Since that some of the merchants have yet to put up the UnionPay signage, cardholders may show their UnionPay cards upon the till and inquire about UnionPay acceptance.Dual brand cards are not accepted as UnionPay cards in South Africa, please use UnionPay single-branded card (card number starting with 62) to enjoy various UnionPay offers. -
Cash withdrawal
In South Africa, almost all ATMs accept UnionPay cards. UnionPay cards can be accepted for withdrawing South African Rand and for balance inquiry First National Bank, ABSA Bank, Standard Bank and Nedbank. Charges
ATM commission fee consists of two parts:(1)Service fee charged by the issuer: please consult the issuer for details.(2)Service fee charged by the ATM acquirer in South Africa: some ATMs will charge commission fee, which is charged by the local banks in South Africa and which has nothing to do with UnionPay or the issuer.Cash withdrawal via debit card results in a lower commission fee. -
Tips
Select PINs that cannot be easily guessed by anyone.
