2019-05-06

Wing (Cambodia) Limited Specialised Bank (Wing), Cambodia’s leading mobile banking provider, has announced that it has partnered with UnionPay International (UPI) to provide outbound money transfer services to China, launching Wing UnionPay MoneyExpress, which allows Cambodians and expats to transfer money to China through the Wing Money App.

Through this partnership with UnionPay, Wing expands its international money transfer channel options available to customers, giving them more choices and control in how to manage their money transfers. Users of the Wing Money app can now transfer money to China, and the receiver, as a UnionPay cardholder, can cash out the money at all banks or ATM machines that accepts UnionPay in China.

As the leading digital money transfer company in Cambodia, Wing recognizes the value in serving its growing base of customers with ties to China, and who need an easy and convenient way to transfer money to China as ties between Cambodia and China continue to grow.

Wing Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jojo Malolos, said the launch of outbound money transfer service to China clearly shows Wing’s commitment in providing a convenient fund transfer solution, between country and country, as Cambodia becomes increasingly international and diverse.

“As commercial and cultural bonds between Cambodia and China strengthen, more Cambodians are finding opportunity with China. Wing is excited to join hands with UnionPay, a leading payment network in China, to provide new outbound money transfer service with the expectation that the service would contribute to further enhancing the bonds between the two nations,” said Mr. Malolos.

Commenting on the partnership, Yang Wenhui, General Manager for UnionPay International Southeast Asia, stated that UnionPay is glad to be partnering with Wing to expand the range of financial products and services available to Cambodians and expats living in Cambodia.

“Wing shares one of UnionPay’s core values to create social value in addition to realizing commercial value, and to ‘Share Growth’. Everything that Wing does and represents is to create value in their business and in society, and they are leaders in both of these areas,” said Mr. Yang.

Wing has been providing domestic money transfers in Cambodia for more than 10 years, and launched its international transfer services in February 2018. Ever since, there has been strong and growing demand for such services, in particular from Cambodians who have relatives living and working overseas.  Wing’s international money transfers are now available in over 200 countries, with its global reach expected to expand as the bank looks into partnering with more companies in 2019.
