June 6 - Su Ning, Chairman of China UnionPay meets with (NAB) Michael Chaney, Chairman of National Australia Bank and his delegation in Shanghai. Also present at the meeting are Cai Jianbo, First Executive Vice President of China UnionPay, and CEO of UnionPay International, Cameron Clyne, NAB President, and the members of the board of directors of NAB. The two sides review their cooperation achievements over recent years and reach consensus on further expanding the scope of cooperation and deepen cooperative relations.

Su Ning, Chairman of China UnionPay says, NAB is the earliest local bank that has established cooperation with UnionPay. The six years of cooperation has seen constant new development in UnionPay card business in Australia, particularly since this April when the two sides jointly launched the UnionPay online payment service which was welcomed by both UnionPay cardholders and local Australian merchants. He hopes the two sides can constantly expand the scope of cooperation, jointly explore business cooperation on card issuance and innovative payment, better serve the Chinese who come to Australia for travelling, study and business, and provide more convenience for the economic, trade and personnel exchanges between the two countries while continue to optimize the UnionPay card acceptance environment and increase card issuance.

NAB Chairman Michael Chaney expresses his thankfulness to Chairman Su Ning for holding the meeting. He says, NAB has attached great importance to its cooperation with UnionPay. Previously, the two sides have conducted satisfactory cooperation in improving UnionPay card acceptance environment in Australia through joint efforts, realizing UnionPay card cross-border payment, and some other fields, particularly in facilitating the acceptance of UnionPay cards by 97% of all taxies in Australia and introducing UnionPay card payment to Macquarie University, Taylor High School and other institutions of learning, which was welcomed by all Chinese tourists and students in Australia. He hopes NAB can expand its cooperation with UnionPay, further improve UnionPay card payment service in the education field of Australia, and provide more excellent and convenient payment experience.

At present, UnionPay cards have become accepted in 60% of ATMs in Australia. POS terminals accepting UnionPay cards are located in all duty-free stores at the airports in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, etc. and in all major shopping centers, tourist attractions, hotels and other similar places in all major cities. By the end of 2013, UnionPay cards will have been accepted in nearly 50% of all POS terminals in Australia. Moreover, cardholders may directly claim tax rebate at all exits in Australia by presenting UnionPay credit card and purchase special Australian commodities through cross-border online shopping by UnionPay card.
