UnionPay International cooperates with DHgate in cross-border online business

On February 26, UnionPay International announced that it reached an agreement with DHgate on cooperation in cross-border online business with DHgate enabling its B2B platform - DHgate.com to accept UnionPay cards (card number starting with 62). Subsequent to the cooperation with Yiwugou, UnionPay International joins hands with domestic cross-border export E-commerce again to enable overseas cardholders to use UnionPay cards for payment at the platform of Chinese E-commerce. Larry Wang, Chief Business Development Officer of UnionPay International, and Wang Tiantian, Vice President of DHgate, attended the signing ceremony.

Cross-border e-commerce has become the new trend in export business. With an increasing number of UnionPay cardholders, UnionPay International is offering more payment convenience for cross-border e-commerce and designing specialized commercial card products to satisfy the payment demand of overseas buyers to purchase in domestic merchants and to enable small and medium-sized enterprises in China to expand abroad at lower costs and in a more efficient manner. As one of the largest cross-border export E-commerce platforms in China, DHgate manages to integrate more than 1.2 million domestic suppliers, over 40 million kinds of commodities and nearly 10 million clients, with business covering 224 countries and regions worldwide. This time, UnionPay International and DHgate reach an agreement on the following matters: firstly, DHgate ‘s B2B platform will be enabled to accept UnionPay cards issued both at home and abroad and overseas entrepreneurs and individuals can complete payment via “UnionPay Online Payment”; secondly, the POS terminals of DHgate’s overseas locations will realize the acceptance of UnionPay cards gradually in order to satisfy the payment demand of overseas customers; thirdly, the two sides will discuss issuing co-branded UnionPay cards in overseas markets and offering value-added and custom-made services for high-end clients of DHgate; fourthly, co-branded marketing activities will be carried out for overseas UnionPay cardholders.

Currently, a total of more than 50 million UnionPay cards have been issued in 40 overseas countries and regions. UnionPay cardholders are always proposing new demands on diversified UnionPay card payment. Nowadays, more than 10 million online merchants overseas accept online payment of UnionPay cards. The merchants cover nearly 200 countries and regions and focus on retailing, online travel reservation, tuition payment and airline booking. UnionPay Online Payment, adopting the Internet system with independent intellectual property rights, provides users with full-process security products that ensure security and convenience, such as protection controls, dynamic phone passwords and information encryption transfer to satisfy the security requirements of cross-border online payment comprehensively.
