2C2P, a global payments platform, today announced a partnership with UnionPay International to offer the UnionPay 3-D Secure (3DS) payment authentication solution to 2C2P’s network of merchants in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, providing consumers with an easier and safer option for making online shopping payments.
As the first payment service provider in Southeast Asia to roll out UnionPay’s authentication technology, 2C2P will launch UnionPay 3DS in October first in Thailand and subsequently in Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Singapore.
UnionPay’s payment authentication solution is compliant with EMV 3-D Secure, the latest security protocol designed to minimise payment fraud and make online debit and credit card transactions frictionless.
Mr. Piyachart Ratanaprasartporn, Chief Executive Officer of 2C2P (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “We are committed to developing a full range of online payment services, and this partnership with UnionPay International demonstrates that commitment. From now till December 31, 2021, the first 5,000 UnionPay Cardholders with UnionPay Cards issued in Thailand will receive Big C / Lotus voucher code valued at 200 baht with a minimum spend of 1,000 baht online at 2C2P merchants. Please refer to Appendix A for the list of 2C2P online merchants. UnionPay Cards are issued by AEON Thana Sinsap, Bangkok Bank, Bank of China, ICBC, Kasikorn Bank, Kiatnakin Bank, Krungthai Bank, Krungthai Card Company and LH Bank.
Mr. Piyachart noted that more Thais are spending through online channels as a result of the pandemic. Based on the Future Shopper 2021 survey of 28,000 respondents in 17 markets, 94% of Thai consumers – the highest share in the survey – said online shopping had come to their rescue last year.
