Reminder from UnionPay International: Stay Alert to Phishing Fraud SMS
2024-12-30

We have recently noticed an outbreak of phishing fraud SMS impersonating UnionPay International. Scammers falsely claim that users will be automatically charged for insurance services and include a fake UnionPay customer service hotline numbers in the SMS, luring people to call back to cancel the service. The scammers then impersonate employees of an insurance company, claiming to assist in canceling the charge, and further tricks the victim into visiting a fake UnionPay website. The purpose is to steal important information such as personal banking accounts, ultimately transferring the deposits from the victim's account.

We hereby confirm that we have no connection with such fraudulent websites. The correct link to our official website is https://www.unionpayintl.com/, and our official hotline is 800-867-222. In addition, UnionPay International does not provide the so-called "cancel automatic transfer payment " service. Meanwhile, UnionPay International has joined the SMS sender registration system and uses the registered sender name #UnionPay to send one-way SMS messages to local mobile phone users so that customers can identify our SMS messages.

We remind the public to remain vigilant. Do not call back any suspicious phone numbers, click any link of unknown origin, or provide any information on suspicious websites. If you encounter similar scams as mentioned above, please call our service hotline, or contact the police when necessary. If you have unfortunately fallen victim to such scams, please contact the police immediately and reach out to the relevant bank.
