UnionPay International announced today that it has cooperated with Sumitomo Mitsui Card Company to enable all the merchants in Tokyu Plaza Ginza to accept UnionPay mobile QuickPass. Customers are now able to make NFC contactless payment by tapping QuickPass-enabled mobile phones and UnionPay IC card in the stores. Now, UnionPay cardholders may download and install the app of “Mobile QuickPass” to enjoy the mobile payment service at 680,000 POS terminals across 16 countries and regions outside mainland China, including Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Russia.

Now, UnionPay is promoting its mobile payment solution, “Mobile QuickPass” outside mainland China. “Mobile QuickPass” include UnionPay mobile QuickPass, UnionPay QR code payment and UnionPay IC card QuickPass. Specifically, UnionPay mobile QuickPass supports Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Huawei Pay and MI Pay, and customers are able to make payments without unlocking mobile phone or opening any mobile apps. Compared with other mobile payment products available in the market now, mobile QuickPass is safer, using dynamic keys and adopting payment tokenization.

The introduction of UnionPay mobile QuickPass in Japan further expands the acceptance of this service in Northeast Asia. In Japan, UnionPay cards are accepted at about 600,000 merchants and over half of the ATMs. Merchants accepting UnionPay include duty-free stores, department stores, electronics chain stores, cosmeceuticals shops and restaurants. In particular, UnionPay is accepted at more than 90% of the local chain convenience stores, including all the stores of 7-11, Lawson, Family Mart, Circle K Sunkus and MINISTOP. Based on UnionPay’s extensive acceptance in Japan, UnionPay International is accelerating the promotion of its mobile payment solutions so as to meet customers’ diverse payment needs.

Tokyu Plaza Ginza is an iconic department store in Tokyo. Customers are able to pay at over 100 merchants in Tokyu by tapping UnionPay chip cards with the “QuickPass” signage and QuickPass-enabled mobile phones. More daily purchase merchants in Japan will accept UnionPay QuickPass successively in the future. Moreover, special offers are provided for customers who pay with UnionPay contactless payments at Tokyu Plaza Ginza around the 2018 Chinese Spring Festival. Customers may enjoy up to 2,000 Yen instant discount when spending more than 10,000 Yen at Tokyu.
