UnionPay cards are accepted at popular scenic spots, department stores and Standard Chartered Bank's  ATMs in Cameroon

  • Cameroon – Country of Lobsters
    The Republic of Cameroon, a republic of unitary system in west-central Africa, borders on Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Congo to the south, Chad and Central Africa to the east, Nigeria to the west, faces the Niger separated by Lake Chad to the north, and adjoins the Gulf of Guinea to the southwest. Known as the “Small Africa”, Cameroon is also abundant in lobsters. Why not take your UnionPay cards (card number starting with 62) to appreciate the charming natural landscape in the “Country of Lobsters”.
  • POS acceptance
    Merchants with the signage of  all accept UnionPay cards. Since that some of the merchants have yet to put up the UnionPay signage, cardholders may show their UnionPay cards upon the till and inquire about UnionPay acceptance.
  • Cash withdrawal
    In Cameroon, UnionPay cards can be accepted for withdrawing US dollar at all ATMs of Standard Chartered Bank .

Daily cash withdrawal limit from respective issuers and/or ATM may apply. Please consult your issuer on the possible cap on the amount. You may split your withdrawals into several times which comply with the limit(s).
  • Charges
    ATM commission fee consists of two parts:
    (1)Service fee charged by the issuer: please consult the issuer for details.
    (2)Service fee charged by the ATM acquirer in Cameroon: some ATMs will charge commission fee, which is charged by the local banks in Cameroon and which has nothing to do with UnionPay or the issuer.

    Cash withdrawal via debit card results in a lower commission fee.

  • Tips
    Select PINs that cannot be easily guessed by anyone.
    Never disclose your PIN to anyone who claims to represent the bank or the police.
    Be alert to your surroundings before conducting any banking transactions.
    Keep a close eye on your credit card during transaction to avoid any illegal activities.
    If your UnionPay card has been stolen/lost, please inform the issuer immediately.
